Reformadora estadounidense. En 1840 contrajo matrimonio con un cuáquero, Dexter Bloomer, que era director de un diario. Escribió artículos sobre educación, las leyes de matrimonio injustas y el voto femenino, y publicó la revista quincenal Lily (1849–54). Uno de sus intereses era reformar el vestuario, y los amplios pantalones que solía llevar llegaron a denominarse "bloomers. La enorme publicidad que generó su atuendo contribuyó a atraer numeroso público a sus conferencias en la ciudad de Nueva York, donde en variadas ocasiones compartió el escenario con Susan B. Anthony y la rda. Antoinette L. Brown.
